Time to impose forced smartphone training

A tweet from Mark Hawker this morning reflected my own frustration at waiting for replies to some quite important emails. It seems increasingly to me that the world is divided into two camps, those, like most people who will read this, who inhabit a variety of online spaces, who are used to responding instantly, or pretty quickly any way, to most contacts and queries, and who expect others to do the same for them. And then there are those whose only contact details you can find are their postal and email addresses, and who seem to treat email the same way as the post, i.e. they get someone to print their emails off and put them into a pile that they might get round to eventually.

Am I wrong in thinking that, in the modern world, this approach is just downright rude? That’s how it feels to me, any way, I suggested to Mark that these people should be given enforced smartphone training. We all know the one they’d be most likely to be comfortable with, it’s named after an autumnal fruit. Can we get on with this mission now?
